Ginger, garlic, tumeric and lemon are easily available in our markets. I didn’t know how these products were powerful until the time I used them.
We may have ignored their importance but they stand to offer great help to our bodies. I am one of those people who used to hate the garlic smell not to mention the tumeric taste.
Last week, I was suffering from cold and flu. At first, I was shocked as this is one of the covid 19 symptoms. You can imagine how scared I was. I decided to take it easy and tried to manage it by myself and then I would visit the doctor later if it didn’t work. I went fetching for the products in the nearby market.
I then prepared them and mixing everything except lemon which I added after the boiling was done. Before I could allow the mixture to cool down, I steamed myself with the hot vapour. After some minutes, I sieved the mixture and added some honey to taste.
After three days, I was free from the cold and flu! I couldn’t believe it. I felt so relieved and happy. My medicine was just a stone throw and at the same time I spent less for my treatment.
By writing this, I don’t advocate for not visiting the doctor when you feel unwell, but you can as well give it a shot.
Have you ever experienced such? Will be happy to hear how you managed it without visiting the doctor. Would you like to read other posts? Be free to get them here.
The former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who is also the ODM party leader had visited the hospital feeling unwell. He complained of fatigue. He was later diagnosed with coronavirus. This happened after he attended several meetings in Mombasa County.
His doctor says that he is responding well to treatment. This is according to report received from media stations. We wish him quick recovery. Remember to leave a comment to wish him well.
The CS has broadly expressed his fear on the rise of the number of people suffering from coronavirus. He declares that the country is experiencing the third wave of the pandemic which can be more dangerous than the previous.
He pleads with all citizens to be extra careful and follow the regulations as given by Ministry of Health.
The long awaited coronavirus vaccine is already here. As per my previous post, teachers and health workers will be in forefront to receive the vaccine. The process of vaccination has already kicked off.
The vaccine has been taken to a number of counties through out the country. Some people still feel that the vaccine is not safe while others see it as a blessing in disguise.
As stated by the Health Cabinet Secretary, the country is going through the third wave of the virus. He stated that, from the previous experience, this one seems to be tougher than before. The numbers have started rising raising a red flag and so he advised the citizens to be a bit careful and keep to the covid-19 regulations.
We are putting too much attention to coronavirus patients as if there were no other deadly diseases.
One is rushed to hospital for pneumonia complications and what you hear is, ” You have to wait for 24hours for covid-19 results to come out.” Before the 24hours are over, we loose our loved ones just in the name of waiting for the results.
Cancer is another disease that is taking those we love without mercy. But all the attention has been taken to covid.
Just the other day, a man had an accident and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The doctors said they cannot attend to him before he was tested for covid. Seriously, a man who needed emergency care to wait for 24 hours? This isn’t right at all. After some hours, he was no more.
It is my prayer that the doctors, nurses and those in health care should come up with ways to mitigate death of patients whose lives could have been saved if only they were given the right attention at the right time.
Most people are dying not because of covid 19 but of other deadly diseases that needed more attention.
How can a person who has been stabbed wait to be tested coronavirus when the knife is still in his body. To me this is really inhuman.
I understand strongly that we need to care for our nurses and doctors and I appreciate the effort they are putting in, but let us not forget there other more deadly situations than just having the coronavirus!

The world was full of peace and happiness until the monster knocked our doors.
We hesitated opening, but the monster kept knocking.
It knocked so loud that everyone in the house was scared to death.
We tried to lock our doors with everything we could find. But it was all in vain.
Finally the monster was in with a bang. Threatened everybody. Took our living rooms, our kitchens and did not dare to spare our bedrooms.
There was nowhere to hide. And as if that was not enough, it took away our loved ones.
Where did you come from? You make our eyes cry every day. Our hearts are full of sadness and we are mourning.
When will you live us? You don’t spare even the kids. Men and women you slay. The rich and the poor you strike. When will you stop this!
We are tied of your attacks. We cannot take it anymore. We have tried all what we can, but you are too dangerous for us to handle.
Oh God! save us from this monster. We have become helpless. We cannot do it alone. We have tried all what we can, but the monster is too powerful for us to fight.
Oh Monster! Oh Covid 19! Oh Coronavirus! Oh pandemic! Please live us in peace.
Have you ever experienced the side effects of sitting for a long time? The novel coronavirus has forced most of us to work from home. Those who are taking courses are too forced to do it online.
Teachers teaching online are forced to sit for a long time contrary to what they are used to. Student may change the sitting position in a normal class but for online classes, same position is maintained.
Sitting for long hours at the same position has come with some problems.
There is an increase of backache to the victims. Some have experienced swelling of feet. Others feel a lot of fatigue from sitting at the same position for long. Sitting glued to the screen causes headaches and eye problems.
Then, what should we do to prevent these problems? Don’t mind, there is a way out.
- Give yourself some short breaks.
- Change the sitting position after sometimes.
- Do some exercises as you are seated such as moving of the legs, hands and shoulders.
- Move the eyes away from the screen for some time. Focus at a distance before you come back to the screen.
- Exercise before you start your day and if possible after you are done with the busy day.
Next time you need to sit for long, take note of the above.
Do you have other experience you can add to the list? Feel free to put it done as a comment below.
