It’s one week since the closure of schools. Our teenagers must be kept busy to make better use of the energy they have. For those in town, there is no land to till unlike the country side teenagers. No forest to send them to look after cattle. Lockdown locks them just inside the house. It is high time they get enrolled in online classes.
After Four years, the students are ready to seat for their final examinations which will determine whether to proceed to universities or colleges.
The students have been going through hard times now that the pandemic has been here for about a year. Some have been affected mentally and emotionally making the students feel as if they are not ready for the exam.
The government has done all what it takes to cushion them. This is by providing counselors in schools who talk to the affected learners. Moreover, the teachers have been trained to handle learners with such problems.
Every learner is working extra hard to see that he or she pass their examinations.
We wish them success in their exams.

The kenya Primary National Examinations are set to start on 22 March. 19th marks the rehearsal day whereby the learners are reminded some do’s and dont’s. Teachers make sure that every learner is well prepared to seat for the exam.
The learners have been preparing for 8 years and now it’s time to reap what they sow. Some schools which didn’t survive the pandemic closed down. This led to transfer of learners to other schools which survived the Covid-19 storm.
The exams are coming a times when some of the learners are going through difficult time. Some have lost their loved ones to Covid-19 while others have been affected economically. This may affect the outcome but not much can be done to mitigate the situation.
We wish them success as well as a safe time! See how to get to your destiny no matter what.
Children are back home for another long holiday. Internet is waiting…..Have you heard of the charlie charlie game which is blowing off the minds of the school going children? It is believed that it connects the player with the spirit of the dead through a ‘supernatural being.’ It is affecting the child mentally and emotionally.
The game involves the use of two pencils or pens. The player mention some words calling the name charlie and respond yes or no. So to parents, this is not just a game to have fun. Watch out!
Others were blue whale and the momo challenge which caused the death of some children.

The long awaited coronavirus vaccine is already here. As per my previous post, teachers and health workers will be in forefront to receive the vaccine. The process of vaccination has already kicked off.
The vaccine has been taken to a number of counties through out the country. Some people still feel that the vaccine is not safe while others see it as a blessing in disguise.
As stated by the Health Cabinet Secretary, the country is going through the third wave of the virus. He stated that, from the previous experience, this one seems to be tougher than before. The numbers have started rising raising a red flag and so he advised the citizens to be a bit careful and keep to the covid-19 regulations.
The schools in kenya reopened on 4th January after a break of nine month. Learners have been having a hard time coping with the new normal of putting on the masks and maintaining social distance.
Some of the learners were affected by the pandemic in one way or the other. Not all learners were able to engage in online classes and so almost forgot everything they were taught before the coronavirus pandemic. Nine months is not a short without going through what one had covered previously.
Coming back to school, the learners having been going through mental challenges and some have been seen suffering from stress. This has caused a great harm to school. It has also been noted that, the long holiday exposed the learners to bad behaviours such as use of drugs. Others have found it difficult to adjust to the life of rules and regulations as they were used to live a life of freedom. Recently, a boy killed a teacher just because of being asked why he was late for classes.
The uncertainty and anxiety that is seen in schools indicates the kind of harm the pandemic has caused not only to economy but also to morals and values of our children. Learners have been burning schools living the parents to suffer more as they pay for the loses.
It’s unfortunate that this comes just a month to national exams. It seems that they feel they are not prepared enough to seat for their final year examinations.
Teachers have been advised of the ministry of education to be vigilant and note any form of distress from the learners. They are directed to give the child concerned the support he or she need. Where there is a need for a counselor, teachers should work with speed to help the child.
How are the learners coping with the new normal in your area? I would love to have a chat with you. Tell me more. You can also see other posts here.

When the topic on morals and values is mentioned, most of the young generation finds this as a waste of time. The discipline of our children is deteriorating day by day.
When I was growing up, I grew knowing that a teacher is one of the people that should be respected no matter what. This seems like it’s no more. Students have been trying to attack the teachers anytime they try to discipline them for their bad behavior.
Some videos have been going viral showing students beating the teachers. Just recently, a student stabbed a teacher to death. He was late of attending morning classes and immediately he was told to explain why he was late, he attacked the teacher with a knife. That means the teenager had the weapon all through waiting for the right moment to attack.
Most of the parents have refrained from disciplining their children leaving the responsibility to the teachers, but with the latest incident, are teachers safe?
This has acted as a wake up call to the ministry of education which previously always supported the students. Now things have gone out of hand and it’s now sounding a warning to all students who think of harming the teachers.
Let’s keep the chat on as you leave a comment. What’s your take on this?

The long holiday of nine months has exposed the school going girls to more dangers. It was notice that there was a rise of teenage pregnancy where high numbers were recorded.
Some have even given birth. The education cabinet secretary recently announced that all children should be allowed to go back to class regardless of their situation. This was after the schools were reopened on 4th January.
This was not a guarantee that these girls would go back to school. Some said that, the were not ready to face the victimization from the age mates.
Some people argue that by allowing the girls back to school, it is like advocating for indiscipline among teenagers and it won’t be a good example to other school going children.
What is your take on this? Kindly share as you leave a comment.
Today being 4th of January, the schools gates are open again not only for the old students but also for everyone who wants to transfer the child due to different reasons.
The pupils in primary school were seen much excited to be back to school. Almost 90% of the students were present. This gives a clear picture that parents were either tired of staying with the children at home or they were well prepared.
Though all the learners were having their masks on, keeping social distance was an issue. As was seen in some schools, a teacher was to handle more than 50 children.
The government issued a statement that even teenage girls that got pregnant or gave birth should be allowed to go back to school.
Kindly keep in touch through a follow or a comment. Safiri salama! (Journey well) in the year 2021.
It is obvious that when students go back to school, they have gone there to learn the stipulated curriculum. This is no more as students are found doing strange things.
In my previous post, I wrote on teenagers and relationship. Of late, since the coronavirus pandemic knocked, there have been so many cases of teenage pregnancy. The sexual abuse is also in the rise from both the friends and relatives.
The government found it wise for some classes going back to school on October and this brought a relief to the parents as many had difficulties in maintaining them at home
From the digital learning to classroom again! But are the students just learning the curriculum in school. Now that there are a few students in the school; class 4&8 and form 4, the students have taken the whole compound all by themselves including the dark corners. Toilets and deserted corridors are having new love birds where all manner of discovery is put to test including intimacy act, all this within the school compounds.
Are these students extending what they were doing at home to school? Teachers have been put between the rock and the hard place especially when they find them red-handed. The morals and values are depreciating day by day. If the teacher happens to involve the parent on the issue, he or she disagrees with the teacher by saying his or her child is innocent. This has happened mostly because some of the parents don’t ‘know’ their children.
Are the teachers being overworked without support from the parents and the community at large?
Do you support the act of the students? Can we say there is a gap when it comes to how to discipline the child? Kindly share your opinion as you comment.
The church was one of many places that was closed due to corona virus pandemic. After sometimes, it was shocking seeing bars opening before the church. With influence of alcohol, the people could not adhere to covid 19 regulations. But this did not stop them from opening.
There was no register as they entered the bars or the markets which was mandatory in the church. When the church opened, there were so many restrictions compared to other places. Was this a spiritual war?
Could covid 19 be a spiritual war fighting the church? Markets are operating as usual. Political gathering are going on as if nothing is happening. But dare to call for a spiritual gathering and it will be you are infringing the health rights of the people.
Merry go round going on as usual. Table banking the same, but fellowship will spread the virus! Don’t you see as if there is more than meet the eye in this?
Is the devil trying to fight the church or is it God punishing the church? Somebody help me understand why only in church gatherings that the coronavirus will spread more! As we pass wishes of a blessed Sunday, most of us are just at home.
Children are going to school. Practising social distance has not been possible but they are still in operation. All other business working as normal but we cannot still meet as church members and discuss issues affecting the church.
All in all, let’s be vigilant, the enemy comes to steal, to destroy and to kill.
Today they are, tomorrow they will be.

It has been a push and pull game whether candidates students will do their end of the year final exams. It’s now almost two months since the schools were closed indefinitely. It is still not clear whether they will be safe from the pandemic if they resume classes. The discussion is still going on whether to open the schools or not.also see

Are our children safe from corona virus..
It is sad that children have been left to go on with their daily activities. They are relating and playing as if covid 19 is a fiction. Schools were closed to keep children safe but it is like this is not working.
When parents go for job, these children are left all alone and they are free to meet with their friends without minding the impact of the pandemic. Most of them are seen not bothering to take the precautions needed. They never use masks nor keep social distance.
My question is…are these children safe? Is keeping them out of school protecting them from being victims?

It has been a long time since schools were indefinitely closed due to Covid 19.
It was a surprise to many as this caught them unaware. How they had to swallow the bitter pill as there was no other option to save the children from the pandemic.
Since then, it has not been easy to stay with children for such a long time bearing in mind that some live in high populated areas. Some of the parents have said it openly why it has been hard to stay with their children for such a long time and it is their prayer this will come to an end soon.
This are some of the reasons they gave:
Children cannot learn by themselves without the help of the teacher. They don’t take parents seriously when they give the assignments . Some of the parents are not aware on what is taught in school. Others know little about the syllabus.
Controlling children has not been easy, This is because they are staying in small rooms and keeping children congested in a room for a whole day is not easy to them. They better go outside where they would have a wider space for their activities.
Some parents are still going to their working places, hence children are left unattended. They(the children)may take advantage of this and engage themselves with immoral behaviours which parent could not advocate for if they were around.
Some children are still too young to understand why they are being told that it is not right to play with their peers.Keeping them in the house all day is not that simple.
Then there are the teenagers who most of the time they feel they are always right. This brings conflict between them and the parents.Sometimes they take advantage of the absence of the parent to do immoral things which could land them in danger. The parents have to deep more in their pockets for the unexpected budget.
It is a prayer to every parent that things will be back to normal soonest. As parents should also know this.
Feel free to add other reasons as you comment.also see
