My dog made me know of my pregnancy

Dogs are peculiar creatures which sometimes can be very sensitive. They have been used in search of drugs and explosives. Those who keep them as pets have said that they experience grief after loss. It was strange a lady known as Rachel to realise that her dog reacted differently due to her pregnancy which she came to realise later. This is what she said:

“Apollo was there for me when I had my lows of lows,” Rachel says of the pup, whom she “fell in love with” at the shelter.

Though always loving and protective, there was one day when Apollo left his snout resting on Rachel’s abdomen for an extended period of time. She snapped photos of the sweet moment and remembered finding it unusual for him, but didn’t think too hard beyond that.

Three weeks later, Rachel’s life changed forever when she had a positive pregnancy test, and nine months later, welcomed her son, Donovan.

Though Apollo was your typical high-energy dog, “when that baby came home, I’d never seen Apollo so gentle,” Rachel recalled. Now two-and-a-half years later, “he’s a big brother to my son,” she says, adding that it’s obvious how much he loves his human sibling.

You may wonder why the dog could realise that Rachel was Pregnant. Sarah Wilson (a dog trainer) explains this:

Dogs are good in smelling. When a woman is pregnant, it comes with morning sickness and change of hormones behaviour. This makes the body to produce some oduor. When the dog smells, it can react on it differently. This happens mostly if the dog has known the person for sometime. The woman changes her behaviour towards the dog making it demand for more attention.

My life in the village. (Pt2)- ciscasquapro

Would you like to catch up with the story? Then get it here: Life wasn’t easy at the village! part one.

I was scared to death such that I could even hear my own heart beat. There was very little to be done. The animal seemed not to be in a hurry and so the more I stood still the more I became helpless. I couldn’t control the urge to sneeze due to the cold weather that hit me like a storm. I had to let it out uncontrollably. This made the hell loose and within a blink, the ground was opening it’s mouth wide to prey on me. Nothing could stop the charging animal to get to it’s target. I was very weak to make a run. I closed my eyes not to see my own death coming to me live.

Suddenly, there was a deafening sound that left my eardrums bursting. I took refuge behind a huge tree that was near me. From there, I could see blurred images as it was still dark. The Elephant was lying helplessly on the ground.

Though it was attacking me, I couldn’t help to see it in great pain. Although some animals were dangerous, I still admired seeing them around. What could have happened? I took my time to watch what was happening. Somebody had shot the elephant and it was groaning in pain. This one made me shed tears. Luckily, it was injured on the leg and so it tried to struggle it’s way into the forest.

Don’t be afraid, I saw the elephant charging towards you, I had this herbs that I used to shoot it’s leg. This was only meant to numb it’s leg to disrupt it. Soon it will recover from it.

A man from nowhere addressed me.

I was happy to hear that though if it were not for the man, I couldn’t live to narrate this story. He was following me closely carrying his jerrican of milk too. All this time, I had tried to make sure my jerrican of milk was still safe. Thank God no accident happened.

I was happy to get a companion to the dairy farm. It was a day full of challenges, but it marked the end of me taking the milk as my dad could not allow such incident to happen again……Yeah! A blessing in disguise!…Dare not miss the next episode..give it a like if it’s worth it.. follow me to make sure you don’t miss it.

My life in the village- ciscasquapro

My life at the village was not that easy. I used to wake up before the sunrise, rush to the shamba to get nappier grass for our cow. This was a way of making it to produce more milk. After all, we needed this for our school fees and other expenses. I had to take the milk to the dairy farm that was seven kilometers away. No breakfast, there I go! The path passed through a forest and it was so scary all alone. On the way, I could hear sounds of animals which made me skip a heart beat. No matter the situation, I had to make sure I reach the dairy farm in time and with the milk intact.

The journey was sometimes delayed by some creatures who enjoyed their company along my path. I could not make a mistake of a show off as that meant the end of me.

I had to hide and watch from far or tempted to take another path which was also not so friendly as one was to go across the river through stepping of logs. Other days, we could find them swept by the water. So, no way was better than the other.

Dare not to disturb.

I vividly remember the day I came face to face with an elephant. As it was dark, I had not seen it neither had I heard any movement because it was standing still. Suddenly, it flapped it’s ears and that’s when I realized it was a stone throw from me.

Elephant on the way.

My legs glued to the ground as a cold chill ran down my spine. What I experienced within the first ten minutes is a story for another day. I stood speechlessly and carefully not to make any movement that could alert the animal…..catch the next episode just here at ciscasquapro… connect through the email for notification.
